Jason is available for Private Lessons & Hitting Lessons, and enjoys working with all those who have a love for the game, both junior and adult.
Jason's credentials & qualifications:
While serving as Director of Junior Tennis at Lakeridge Tennis Club (1996-2004), Jason built Nevada's largest junior tennis program, producing several players who went on to play tennis at top universities throughout the nation; including Yale, Stanford, Villanova, Purdue, Illinois, UCLA, Boise State, St. Mary's, and Nevada. Jason's juniors held Top 5 rankings in Northern California, many of whom were ranked at the National level. His juniors captured over 30 Sectional & State titles in both singles & doubles.
After leaving Lakeridge, Jason's continued to coach Reno's top-ranked junior players, including Phillip Hinojosa (UNR / 2008 Zone Singles Finalist), Wesley Reimer (2-time Zone Doubles Champion / State Finalist), and Scotty Fahrendorf (Villanova University / Nevada Zone Singles Champion / Nevada State Doubles Champion).
As a player, Jason recently reached the Mens' Open Doubles final at the 2010 Reno City Championships, partnering Boise State #1 Jeffrey Mullen. In 2009, Jason reached the Men's Open Doubles final of the Northstar Open at Lake Tahoe, California, partnering long-time student Wesley S. Reimer (Open Division). Prior to his wrist surgery (see below), Jason and partner (Mike DesJarle) won the 1999 Zephyr Cove / Lake Tahoe Doubles Championships (Men's Open Division). He was a Singles Finalist at the 1999 Mammoth Open, and partnered (Keith Ceasar) to win the Lakeridge Class Championships doubles title (5.0+ division) in 1998. In 1996, Jason reached the quarter-finals of the Siebel Open Pre-Qualifyer.
As a junior, Jason played most of his tennis out of the Pacific Northwest (Oregon & Washington), Nevada, and California. He held the #1 Boy's 18 & under ranking two consecutive years, and represented Northern Nevada at the prestigious Governor's Cup; Las Vegas.
In 2000, Jason tore a wrist ligament in his right wrist, which required a successful reconstructive wrist surgery. During his rehab time, he taught himself how to play left-handed, and went on to compete (and teach) with his non-dominant arm. He reached the semi-finals of the Nevada Lakeridge Class Championships (4.5 Singles), playing "lefty", which significantly enhanced his understanding (and appreciation) for the game.
